WHAT A GAME!

It was a treat for all the fans today in the Southlands Hockey League. Amazing goals, pretty passing plays and outstanding goaltending. The Boys League regular season ended with the Gnomes triumphing over the Raptors 9-6. Garde set a league record with five goals and also won the goal scoring title. He even tipped in one of his goals after Jacob fired a shot from the point. Those five goals added to Robert's hat-trick and Nicholas's single goal to lift the Gnomes to another win. Austin and Jason both had hat-tricks for the Raptors. Jackson and Alex put on a clinic with several phenomenal saves...including Alex's stunning glove stopping a point blank shot.

GNOMES WIN THE LEAGUE TITLE

The Gnomes edged out the Jets 4-3 today. The win enables the Gnomes to finish first and win the League title. It looks as if they will play the Jets in the Championship game. Josh and Jacob scored two goals a piece as the brother combination worked very well for the Gnomes. Look out Sedins! Jackson replied with two goals for the Jets and Justin added one. Apparently your name had to begin with the letter 'J' to score a goal today. Ryo and Zaha were the goalies.

RAPTORS TIE WITH THE LAST SHOT!

Austin tied the game today with the very last shot. The Raptors' sniper scored his hat-trick goal lifting his team into a 5-5 tie with the Jets. It was a fast paced game with another hat-trick scored for the Jets by Mason. He is now the top goal scorer in the Boys League. A.J. and Jeremy also scored a pair of goals for their respective teams. One of the nicest plays ever seen in the SHL occured when Zachary made an amazing pass to A.J., he then roofed the shot past the goalie. Considering one team was in first place and the other in third, the game showed just how even all the teams are. Ryo and Zaha were outstanding in net. The one point earned allows the Jets to move into first place in the Boys League.

SECRET GRUMPY CAMP/BIG BIRD TRADED

Unconfirmed reports have come in that the teachers' team is at a special training camp. The winners of the two championship games will play the Grumpy Old Men in two exhibition games next week. Apparently the teachers are getting in shape and practicing at a secret location. Reports say that Gandalf and the Hammer are working on a special five-way passing play similar to the legendary Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s. Apparently Stonewall has vowed he won't let another goal in all year and the Chef is working on a new all-meat diet for the team. Meanwhile, Steamboiler and Puppetman are watching video of all the teams to look for any weaknesses.

The team is also having to deal with the loss of one of their best players. The Montreal Canadiens picked up Big Bird at the trading deadline and he is leaving the Grumpy Old Men. Apparently the team is dedicating the rest of their season to Big Bird. BON CHANCE MON AMI!

TEACHERS' GOAL SCORING

Gandalf a lot...around nine
The Chef none...he likes to hang back and admire the action
Stonewall none...he likes to stand in the goal and 'play' goalie
Big Bird a lot...seven or so
Steamboiler a few...maybe three
Puppetman a couple of hat-tricks or so...let's say around eight
The Hammer some...maybe six

The Jets pulled into a tie at the top of the Boys League with an 8-3 win over the Gnomes. The League's balance has shown itself as nobody can tell who is going to win each game. Mason had a hat-trick, Gabe and Justin scored two goals each and Jeremy added one for the victorious Jets. Robert scored two goals in a comeback attempt for the Gnomes. THE GRUMPY OLD MEN: BRUISED BUT UNBEATEN

Those old teachers came out of top of the Raptors by a score of 6-3. Although the Grumpy Old Men played short-handed they somehow found a way to win. For the teachers, Puppetman scored a hat-trick, Gandalf had two goals and the Hammer added another goal to his total. Lachlan scored two and Carter added one for the hard-working Raptors. Alex and Ryo played very well and made several stunning saves. Puppetman took a puck off his head and a nice tattoo remains on his arm from another blistering shot. Apparently the other Grumpy Old Men are also nursing injuries. It's good thing those old guys have a couple of weeks off. It's now back to all student games!

THE SLAMMIN' POWERHOUSES STRIKE BACK

Today the Slammin' Powerhouses just nipped past the Cheeka Cheeka Yas 2-1. The game was intense, filled with exciting battles for the puck and a determined effort from both teams. Olivia was the star as she scored both goals for the Slammin' Powerhouses. Sivan cut the lead in half with a one-time shot in the second half. Zaha and Ryo both made numerous saves to keep the game a low-scoring affair. If you could bottle the energy from this game you could power a few cities!

GRUMPY OLD MEN EDGE JETS

The Grumpy Old Men edged out the Jets 4-2 in a close game. Alex and Zaha played very well in net with Alex recording the shutout. Gandalf led the teachers with a hat-trick including a spectactular unassisted goal. The Hammer added the other goal for the Grumpy Old Men. Jets' snipers Jackson and Brian added goals in the second half to close the gap. The Grumpy Old Men were happy that Puppetman didn't 'accidentally' pass the puck to the Jets during the game. Rumour has it that the short-handed teachers team dedicated the game to the absent Stonewall and Steamboiler.

IS PUPPETMAN REALLY A GRUMPY OLD MAN?

Rumours that Puppetman might actually not be grumpy and may be a happy teacher are everywhere. Could one of the Grumpy Old Men actually be helping out the happy students? Did he 'accidentally' pass to the Cheeka Cheeka Yas yesterday, or is it a conspiracy? The Hammer has his doubts, "Maybe he's a traitor." Big Bird and Gandalf were also unhappy with some of the Puppetman's 'accidental' passes yesterday. The truth is out there...
